Events are quickly and cleanly told, the characters are interesting, amusing or loathsome as demanded; and best of all the narrative voice is that wonderful, omniscient, cynical, foot-noting tourist-guide voice which led us hitchhiking through the galaxy or down dangerous streets of Ank-Morpork.
